Maltinese Designer Breed

Origin: The Maltinese is a designer breed that comes from full blood Maltese and Pekingese Parents.

History: The Maltinese has been around about as long as the Maltese and Pekingese breeds. Of course the first Maltinese probably came about by accident but within the last 10 years the Maltinese has become more popular because of all the people that are purchasing designer breeds.

Description: The Maltinese can come in a wide variety of colors and color combinations. The multiple Maltinese colors come from the Pekingese. Some Maltinese are parti colored, others solid. Some of the common colors of the Maltinese are White, White and Cream, Cream, Sable, Black and White and to many more colors to mention.

Temperament:

The temperament or personality of your Maltinese dog will depend on a variety of factors. There are two factors that I consider to be the most important when it comes to the Maltinese breed.  

# 1 Both Parents of the Maltinese puppy need to be sweet natured and well socialized.

# 2 Each Maltinese puppy in the litter needs to be introduced to family members at an early age, including children and adults. Proper socialization of the Maltinese puppies is equally important.

Maltinese Puppies are generally intelligent. The Maltese is considered one of the more intelligent breeds and the Pekingese are smart also. That doesn't mean they will be easy to train, only that they are trainable if done properly.

Maltinese puppies and dogs can live in many different environments. If you live in a colder climate then you should invest in a Coat or Sweater for your Maltinese dog or puppy. The Maltinese can be comfortable in an apartment, condo, house or country setting.

Exercise: It is important to give your Maltinese puppy or adult dog proper exercise. If you have a fenced in yard you can let your Maltinese run loose but I suggest you be out there with it to make sure they don't find a place to get out. Most Maltinese dogs can get enough exercise just playing and running in your apartment or house but every Maltinese puppy and dog that I've known loves to play outside.

This dog breed makes a good pet for a family or individual in a city or suburban home. It does well in an apartment. This Maltinese is very trusting and gentle with friends and family. It is very affectionate, loves to give kisses and cuddle. The Maltinese breed make an excellent lap dog.

Life Expectancy: The life expectancy of a Maltinese is 12-17 years or more. It is important to make sure your Maltinese puppy is up to date on all it's vaccinations, de-wormings. If your Maltinese puppy is over 12 weeks of age it will need a rabies vaccination before flying.
