Goldador Dog Breed Health Issues, Grooming, Temperament, Colors, Size, History and More
Temperament: The Goldador is a dog with good intelligent parents and has gained this from both sides making it a dog that is easy and quick to train. They do have a cheeky nature and if left to rule the home will do so. House rules and boundaries do need to be set, and kept. This is a dog that is fine for the first time dog owner as they wish to please you and are forgiving. It takes a while to learn how to train this dog. Basic training can start from early puppy hood and can be on going. Socialize this dog well, to cope with new situations and also other dogs and what is expected in their behavior. As a companion dog they are wonderful and will love being with the family. They are good with children and will love the games that children offer. They love to please you and are loyal. The Goldador is a good watchdog but not a guard dog and will tell you when someone is coming. This dog wants a good calm pack leader and will love the security of routine and rules. This dog will want to be active and will need walking daily. They have a bright mind and need to have mental exercise daily as well, to prevent boredom. They love to have jobs to do and will enjoy things like having a doggy back pack to carry the children’s books to school or bottles of water when out for a walk. The Goldador gets on with other household pets and dogs.
Health issues: The Goldador does have some health issues and these are; hip and or elbow dysplasia, cataracts, PRA and diabetes. Check that any breeder you use has full health checks carried out and that both breeding dogs are free of problems, if they can’t do this then find a breeder that can.
Grooming: The Goldador needs weekly brushing with a curry brush and this will remove any dead fur from the coat. Bath only when really needed as this can strip the coat of natural oils.
Living conditions: The Goldador is suitable for apartment living if they are well exercised both mentally and physically. They need a medium size garden.
