CHIWEENIE Dog Breed Health Issues, Grooming, Temperament, Description, History and More
Temperament: This is a dog of good nature and will want to be with its family. They can attach to one person and feel very lost if that person is not there. This is a dog that has intelligent parents and is intelligent themselves. Training this dog will be fairly easy although some owners have said about a stubborn streak. Calm good leadership works well for this dog as does firm but kind training, they will not respond well to harsh methods of training but praise and fun is the key. The Chiweenie is good with families and if socialized well can be good with children. Socializing this dog helps them to cope with new situations and not be shy with strangers. The training is also about the dog knowing you are the pack leader as without this the dog can quickly rule the home and small dog syndrome can happen. This is where the dog can get behavioral problems and even become aggressive. This dog loves to be cuddled and will want to snuffle down with you under the covers at night. If over loved they can become very needy and this is where the right training and house rules will help the dog to know their place and be happy. This dog loves to play and will need mental and physical activities daily. They are energetic so walks daily are really needed for the dog to burn up some of their energy.
Health issues: The Chiweenie can have knee problems, watery eye problems allergies to pollen and ear infections. Check the health of both parents with good breeders before you get this dog.
Grooming: The Chiweenie is a fairly easy dog to keep clean and tidy. Brush the coat through at least weekly and that is all that is needed. The skin tends to be of good health. Check the ears for any sign of infection weekly.
Living conditions: The Chiweenie is a good lap dog and living in an apartment is fine for this dog. They will need a few walks a day and have play sessions using their mental abilities. A small garden is fine for this dog; make sure the fencing is good.
